South Coast Montessori in Goleta/Santa Barbara is looking for a candidate to lead the after school program for our Primary classroom (children aged 3-6 years) for the 2020 school year. This is a part-time position in the afternoons.
Job Description:
Keep the children safe and engaged.
There is a tremendous amount of flexibility in this role to implement your own ideas, both indoor and outdoor. We would foresee this person creating 1-2 activities a week as options for the children (coupled with existing materials/activities and with lots of outdoor play time).
Preferred Experience, Qualifications, and Attributes:
12 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units completed or in progress or equivalent certificate
Confidence and experience with the 3-6 age group.
Creative, crafty, innovative with ideas for children.
Knowledge and interest in the Montessori method preferred but not required.
Reliability a must.
Commitment to working with a team of teachers and administrators always striving to model professionalism and collaboration in service of the school's mission and children.
Other Basic Requirements:
Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds
Must have a clear driving record
Must pass the LiveScan fingerprint testing through the Department of Justice.
South Coast Montessori:
We are Santa Barbara's newest non-profit private school and we are continuing a 40+ year tradition of offering an authentic Montessori education in the Santa Barbara community. Our beautiful 9 acre campus in Goleta, California features wonderful indoor and outdoor classroom environments.
Hours:
Monday - Friday 2:30-5:30 PM. The position is open January 3, 2020 but the right candidate can start sooner if desired.
