Founded in 1976, Santa Barbara Middle School is a co-educational school that offers
students in grades 6-9 a profound educational experience combining Academics, Creative
Arts & Sports, Outdoor Education, and Community Involvement. Serving approximately 182

Santa Barbara Middle School seeks candidates for the position of Middle School
Mathematics.
Position Begins: January 2025
Status: Part-time, Non Exempt

Job Description:
Santa Barbara Middle School is looking for a part time math teacher to join our fantastic Math team. This
is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teaching professional to collaborate with and learn
from experienced math teachers. We have a unique math program that is "untethered." This
means that students are placed according to proficiency and are not limited by grade level or
age.
Candidates should have experience teaching or tutoring mathematics, with the ability to teach
classes that range from Algebra I through Calculus and Statistics. Successful candidates should
demonstrate the ability to create developmentally appropriate curricula, establish a supportive
and engaging classroom environment, differentiate to meet the needs of all students and work
collaboratively with colleagues and parents/guardians. Candidates will be expected to
participate in weekly staff/faculty meetings, weekly grade-level meetings, professional
development, and in-service and community events. Candidates will also take part in teaching
electives and will actively participate in our outdoor education program, which will include
approximately 20 nights per year away from campus on trips. This will consist of kayaking,
mountain biking, hiking, camping, and other possible activities.
