School-Age Child Care Teacher
Job Location: Santa Barbara, CA 93111
Full Time Classroom Teachers: 8:00 am 5:00 pm / 8:30 am 5:30 pm
Part Time Classroom Teachers: 7:15 am 1:00 pm / 11:45 am 6:00 pm / 8:00 am 4:00 pmJob Purpose
Works with groups of school-age children in a classroom setting providing safe nurturing care, creative age-appropriate curriculum and information and support to families.MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES / SPECIFIC JOB COMPETENCIES

  • Children & Families Communicates positively with parents on a regular, planned basis as well as on an informal daily basis. Responsible for providing safe and nurturing care to all children at all times including but not limited to building positive relationships, engaging in conversations, and modeling positive behaviors while attending to the various social and emotional needs of the children. Percentage of time: 30%
  • Classroom & Curriculum Responsible for prep and clean-up tasks such as; preparation and clean-up of projects and environments, preparing rooms for mealtimes, implementing and maintaining a creative and safe learning environment both inside and out. Selects and carries out the age-appropriate curriculum for the children as outlined in our curriculum philosophies. Maintains standards as described in the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Accreditation materials while creating a caring, peaceful, and anti-bias environment with emphasis placed on child-centered learning. Percentage of time: 30%
  • Communications & Teamwork Maintains positive and open channels of communication with all co-workers. Consistently adheres to Hospital's "Standards of Behavior and "Code of Conduct as well as to Child Care Services "Commitment to my Co-Worker. Maintains clear and timely communications with supervisors and team members regarding any concerns about children's health, safety, emotional well-being, behavioral or developmental issues, and environmental hazards. Percentage of time: 30%
  • Documentation & Department Specific Policies Maintains all appropriate documentation including but not limited to documentation regarding children's attendance, scheduling, and well-being. Attends all necessary meetings and completes all required classes. Takes responsibility for completing KRONOS records as needed. Keeps current with all Hospital and Departmental email. Responsible for understanding and remaining compliant with all Departmental policies. Percentage of time: 10%
  • SCHEDULES With variations due to hospital site and department, this position may require census-driven scheduling flexibility (additional/fewer shifts), holiday coverage, floating, being placed on-call, weekend coverage, and shift rotations.

  • QUALIFICATIONS
    All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficientlyLEVEL OF EDUCATION
    Minimum: Units and training hours may be combined to meet the total educational requirement (12 units in Education or 240 training hours in educational group/classroom setting, or any combination thereof).
    Preferred: A.A or B.A degree in EducationCERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    Preferred: Child Development Teacher permits, CPR & First Aid certificationTECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
    Familiarity with Microsoft Suite, basic email function, and iPad functions.YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE
    Minimum: 1-year teaching experience with applicable age group.
    Preferred: 2 years with applicable age group including Lab School experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
