Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall condition of school buildings, grounds, and equipment. This role involves light custodial work, maintenance tasks and support for school events. The Maintenance Technician would provide coverage during regular work hours and for special events, and must be able to work some evenings and weekends. The ideal candidate is service-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Interact courteously and respectfully with staff, students, guests, and vendors, fostering a positive and service-oriented environment.
Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
Conduct light repairs and refurbishing tasks, including sanding, staining, and painting of furniture, walls, or surfaces as needed.
Clean and maintain light fixtures, windows, and administrative office areas to ensure a clean and welcoming environment.
Gather and properly dispose of trash from all exterior designated areas.
Set up and break down tables, chairs, decorations, and equipment for meetings, school functions, and special events.
Set up daily for lunch
Assist with moving and relocating furniture, equipment, and other heavy items, either manually or using appropriate tools and carts.
Maintain organized, clean, and safe storage and maintenance areas; ensure tools are returned to proper locations after use.
Mow and maintain the soccer field using a riding lawn mower.
Use a blower to clean sidewalks, walkways, and school grounds to ensure tidy and safe outdoor areas.
Perform general light repairs as directed, addressing facility needs in a timely and efficient manner.
Follow all established safety procedures and internal facility policies at all times.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical & Other Requirements:
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods (up to 8 hours).
Frequent bending, stooping, climbing, crawling, kneeling, and reaching.
Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull objects up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to varied indoor/outdoor environments and weather conditions.
Background investigation required via Live Scan
TB Assessment required for employment in CA Schools
Experience & Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Minimum 1 years experience in general maintenance.
