SlingShot Alpha Art Studio & Gallery is seeking a full or part-time Teaching Artist. SlingShot is an art studio and gallery for artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities who want to create and sell art. Our studio supports the independent practice and unique vision of the SlingShot artists and provides professional representation in the Gallery.
We seek an artist who has a familiarity with developmental services. The ideal candidate will have a BFA or a BA in a related field with a personal art portfolio; or a combination of education and paid employment in teaching art and the human services field. Experience with multiple art mediums is required.
Job duties include development, coordination, implementation and maintenance of artist-centered goals, including development of art. This position is responsible for completing paperwork related to artist outcomes, some personal care and hygiene assistance, and working with a small team of co-workers to maintain day to day operations.
Candidates must have a valid California driver license, a clean DMV record along with reliable transportation. You must receive a criminal background clearance from the Department of Justice including fingerprinting and health screening, including a TB test.
SlingShot is comprised of approximately 40 working artists, Teaching Artists and a Studio Manager. SlingShot is a lively atmosphere where disruptions are common and the work is rewarding.
