Temp/Internship: Marketing and Editing Assistant for Author (Santa Barbara, CA)

Vacancy expired!

PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE APPLYING!

I am an author and I'm looking for an assistant to help me organize, compile, and promote my work.

This is a paid temporary position of approximately 18-20 hours of work per month for 3-4 months, with space for creativity, skill-building, and lots of learning. Ideal for a college student. At the end of the 3-4 month period we will review the results and decide how to proceed.

You will be using:

Canva

Social media (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter)

Social media scheduler (Hootsuite or Noomly)

Google Suite (Docs/Sheets/Drive)

My writing explores intersectional issues, so I am looking for someone who considers themselves a creative and open-minded person with an activist's streak, and likes the idea of exploring culture, environment, and society through art.

Ideal candidates will be students majoring in Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, Comp. Lit., or Environmental Justice, but if you are interested in these issues and come from an Art/Marketing/Design background, that's great too!

Together we will be developing the online brand for the book release via 1. social media and 2. online written content like op-eds and short stories.

The job will include 5 main tasks:

1. Brainstorming with me about the book, brand, and promotional strategy

2. Editing manuscripts and poems

3. Transcribing notes (typing things up from audio, paper, or me pacing around talking ;)

4. Social media post design on Canva

5. Social media admin: scheduling on HootSuite or Noomly with proper hashtags, captions, etc. and interacting with posts. (If you haven't used those programs before, please look them up and see if it's something you feel confident you can learn fairly fast.)

TO APPLY:

1. Create an Instagram post on Canva that says "Treat people as if they were what they ought to be and you will help them to become what they are capable of being." -Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

with a background color= #234a25 Text color= #ffffff (add an element of your own style if you'd like.)

2. Attach the Canva post to an email as an image file. In the body of the email, explain your interpretation of the quote (in as many words as you need, doesn't need to be long or concise.)

3. Include your resume, or just a short narrative about why this job interests you and why you think you can do it.

4. Send to ninadstrella@gmail.com

Position is open now and starts as soon as possible.
