Adult Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor On-call
The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking a Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor in Santa Barbara at our Adult Residential Treatment Center.
We are looking for an experienced Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor who is interested in working with adults taking the first step in recovery from an alcohol or substance use disorder in an acute detoxification setting (a 12-bed facility for men and women). This position will provide acute residential detox relief and work under the supervision of the Residential Treatment Program Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Certificate in Alcohol/Drug Counseling or its equivalent.
2. Communication skills sufficient to write appropriate professional reports and to communicate with judges, attorneys, physicians, employers, and other professionals, as well as with clients from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Job responsibilities include:
1. Conducting individual client intakes and assessments following an established medical assessment protocol to determine the appropriateness of client admission to the program.
2. Making appropriate medical referrals prior to admission for those potential clients whose health may pose a threat to themselves or others during treatment.
3. Securing and dispensing bonafide prescription medications to clients in treatment.
4. Collecting client fees and assisting in Medi-Cal identification, eligibility processing, and billing, and providing required documentation of client services.
5. Leading education groups with clients.
6. Escorting and assuring supervision of all clients during all treatment activities including acupuncture, 12-step meeting attendance, group counseling attendance, and other activities.
7. Providing information and referral services to clients and remaining abreast of all current alcohol and drug resources in the community.
8. Flexible shifts will include over-night hours.
Rate of pay dependent on qualifications & experience.
