The Position:
The Family Support Services (FSS) Family Advocate will foster strong partnerships between Community Based Organizations, local schools, and families to support families in overcoming obstacles to self-sufficiency and will inspire confidence in guiding partners to reach chosen goals. Guided by the Protective Factors Framework, the Family Advocate will work collaboratively to provide comprehensive services to at-risk families to support the overall wellbeing and health of the family. Through advocacy, case management, parent education, developmental screening, and linkage to community resources, the Family Advocate will identify risks, promote strengths, and equip parents with the skills and knowledge needed to overcome sources of stress and provide nurturing environments. Services are provided in the school, home, and community setting.
Employment Standards:
Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, education, or related field required.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
Strong coordination/facilitation skills a must.
Excellent analytical, computer, written and verbal communication skills required.
Professional attitude, teamwork, and ability to maintain confidentiality a must.
Valid CA driver license required.
Classification, Hours and Pay Rate:
The position is part-time, non-exempt with potential for full-time. Part-time positions are eligible for generous vacation and sick leave accruals, and holidays.
Pay is dependent on experience.
