We are seeking a responsible and caring individual for the position of Lead Staff in our Santa Barbara Independent and Supported Living Services program. This is a full-time position supporting various hours weekdays, weekends and holidays as needed.

SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Independent and Supported Living (IL/SL), this position is responsible for the day to day supervision of the household support of individuals who reside at a home in Santa Barbara.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provides individualized instruction in daily adaptive living skills and monitors the extent to which they are followed

Assists with personal care/hygiene as needed. This includes providing support in restrooms with showering and toileting.

Provide support in the interactions with SSI, SSDI and all annual paperwork

Keeps both staff and person supported support tables and manages staff schedules

Provides education and support in the use of community resources

Ensures effective inter-agency communication

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor staff

Maintains accurate and current records on training , supports, hours needed, integration levels and Individual Service Plans

Helps determine the types of supports necessary to maintain current living arrangements

Provides financial and budget support

Reviews and monitors the administration and reordering of medications

Records and monitors the use of Agency vehicles as necessary

Trains persons served in IL/SL to access public transportation and assists them in accessing benefits

Assist in weight bearing and non-weight bearing transfers

Uses crisis intervention techniques in emergency situations when persons served are in danger of injuring themselves or others

During absence, ensure that all responsibilities are delegated accordingly.

Participates in trainings and staff meetings to facilitate professional development

Works cooperatively with Agency staff, volunteers maximizing experience while meeting the needs of UCP WORK, Inc. persons served and programs

Direct Service support and/or coverage as needed

Ability to implement Crisis Management, Safety & ProAct techniques

Responsible for other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Two (2) years' experience working directly with individuals who are elderly and/or developmentally disabled in group and individual settings; One (1) year of administrative and supervisory experience working for an Agency providing support to adults with developmental disabilities

Proven ability to work with and motivate staff members, organizational skills

Compassion and respect for persons with disabilities

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff within the organization

Ability to understand technical written materials

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

May need to be available during any disasters, per disaster plan

Additionally- A candidate must pass all applicable background checks, medical/drug screenings, and have a valid California Driver's License with driver record acceptable to Agency's insurance carrier and agency policies. Person must have a reliable transportation and phone.

Rate of pay for this position is $14.00/ hour as a non-exempt position. We are proudly an Equal Opportunity Employer.
