POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mixteco/Indigena Community Organizing Project (MICOP) is hiring a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (MFT) to join our Living with Love (LwL) team. We are looking for someone who has a client-focused approach to the treatment of indigenous migrant families and couples in committed relationships. If you are skilled and experienced in helping family units work together to overcome serious problems and communicate better, and you are interested in making a difference in the life of indigenous migrant communities in Ventura County, this may be the right place for you. You will be the very first MFT in MICOP’s history. You would be working with the LwL team, supporting a variety of clients on your caseload and providing therapy and other services to help them heal. Living with Love (LWL) is a community-based project that aims to transform the mental health system and to reduce mental health disparities among racial, ethnic, and LGBTQ communities. You would be part of a team that provides culturally relevant services to a community that faces unique challenges including language barriers, as they often only speak their native indigenous languages. As the LwL therapist, you would have access to confidential interpreters who are bilingual (Spanish and Mixtec).
