We are a metaphysical bookstore and gift shop in downtown Santa Barbara and are seeking a new team member!
It is important to us to create an atmosphere of energetic calm where all are welcome and encouraged to seek out new information that supports their path and journey. We are a small store with a small staff, so everyone who works here needs to know all aspects of daily operations. Job includes cheerful customer service; cash register operation; cleaning and maintenance of the space; receiving; restocking; ordering; computer data entry; gift wrapping; and light book keeping. Training will include the Booklog point of sale system.
Our ideal individual would have:
At least 1 year retail sales experience: bookstore preferred, but not required. Customer service is a must.
Knowledge of the metaphysical book world in general or specific genres such as Buddhism, Meditation, Crystals, etc. Someone who is an active reader is a definite bonus.
Computer literacy is a must; comfortableness with all aspects of computer work and programs. IT skills a definite bonus. Experience with online sales is a plus.
Essential skills also include an enthusiastic attitude, willingness to learn and great people skills. The position requires a person who is capable of completing a wide variety of tasks in a flexible, resourceful manner within a peaceful retail setting.
Dog friendly as two co-workers have four legs.
Must be punctual as well as flexible with your schedule.
Must be able to lift heavy items: A minimum of 40 pounds.
Must be comfortable on your feet, we are standing for most of the work day.
Compensation is hourly and dependent upon experience.
30-36 hours per week, including one weekend day.
