STAFF RESEARCH ASSOCIATE 1
Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB)
MCDB is a highly interactive community whose research activities bridge the broad spectrum of modern biology. Members of the MCDB community strive to apply both experimental and theoretical approaches to illuminating the fundamental mechanisms through which biological molecules, molecular assemblies, cellular constituents, and collectives of cells dynamically drive living processes throughout the microbial, plant and animal kingdoms. Responsibility includes research projects: electron microscopy reconstruction of fly visual neurons, testing BacTrack system, setting up a visual arena for tethered flying flies, and related data analyses. It also includes training new undergraduate students, purchasing, fly stock maintenance, and other general lab maintenance.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have knowledge of scientific terminology and a general understanding of basic biology.
Must have experience working in a lab and be able to perform behavior experiments and have a strong proficiency in computer use.
Must have attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to set up experiments as well as clean and maintain an appropriate laboratory environment.
Special Condition of Employment:
Satisfactory criminal history background check.
