Job description
Biotech company in Santa Barbara is seeking a Tissue Microtomy / Histotechnologist with experience in cutting tissues using a manual rotary microtome A MUST. Additionally, candidate will manufacture Tissue and Cell Line Microarrays.

The ideal candidate should be interested in acquiring technical knowledge in the area of immunophenotyping of cancer using molecular biology techniques. Candidate should have very good knowledge of general laboratory practices (preparation of solutions, handling chemicals, pipetting, etc.), good record keeping and ability to conduct experiments unsupervised (after formal training). Training will include manufacturing of Immunochemicals, Cell Culture, Optimization and QC of Immunochemicals for cancer diagnostics under GMP/FDA conditions.
Job requirements
Certification by ASCP as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist preferred, HT/HTL (ASCP). Employees may be hired without this certification but must register to take the exam within twelve (12) months of hire date and successfully achieve certification within 2 years. Experience handling chemicals, preparing buffers and solutions. Good record keeping and computer-internet literacy a must.
Experience in anatomic- pathology is required. Must be experienced in a variety of histology techniques including immunohistochemistry (IHC) and CISH/FISH, but we are willing to train the ideal candidate. Degree in the Sciences strongly preferred.
