Excel Personnel Services is currently recruiting for an IT Support Technician in the Goleta area. This position is temp to hire with a 9/80 workweek the hours are from 7 am to 5 pm, four days a week, and two four hour shifts on Friday (you will have every other Friday off). The pay rate for this position is $17.79 to 21.63/hr (DOE). If you are qualified and interested in this position, please apply ASAP!
Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assure the continuity of the companys computer system for all system users
Research software products and applicability to organizational environment
Install selected software and hardware products
Repair hardware as necessary and work closely with service vendors to ensure continuity of service
Stay up to date with all of the latest developments in MIS technology
Be on-call for all periods as assigned by the manager
Provide technical assistance and advice to users as needed
Recommend changes in software and hardware to improve computer capabilities
Assist in implementing practices
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering or related field and 2 to 4 years of directly related work experience
Strong problem skills
Ability to properly communicate through both oral and written communication
Ability to work independently, with little to no instruction, as well as on a team
Strong negotiation skills
Familiarity with the main data manipulation languages and the principles of database design
The ability to properly multi-task and meet deadlines
Strong organizational skills
Flexibility and adaptability
The ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and customers
Business awareness and understanding of business requirements of IT
Ability to stay up to date with developments in new technology
Must be committed to continuing professional development
Must have a strong understanding of information legislation, such as the Data Protection Act
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles (Identifying and eliminating waste from business processes, bringing improvements in quality, cost, and delivery)
Ability to analyze and resolve user needs and problems, interpret and apply information from technical manuals, communicate on technical issues with individuals of varying degrees of computer familiarity, instruct others in the use of computerized information systems, and the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize the work of self and others
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio
Experience using a copier, telephone, fax machine, calculator, and other office equipment
Experience with servers, workstations, network switches, firewalls, wireless routers, and more
Must be familiar with Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003, Windows 2000/XP
Certifications in: MCSE, MCDBA, MCSA, CCNA, CCNP, Microsoft Access training are desired or relevant work experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Requires the ability to access all areas of the facility
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
