The Mechanical Technician repairs and overhauls automobiles, trucks, and other automotive vehicles by performing the following duties.
Essential Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Professionally greets customers, examines vehicle and discusses with customer nature and extent of damage or malfunction; completes estimates accurately; builds customer confidence in company repair capabilities
Plans daily workload effectively to meet commitments to customers, timely communicates any potential changes that could impact customer costs or time of completion expectations
Consistently follows all safety standards, uses extra care when raising vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, working under vehicles, removing engines and transmissions or any time that high-risk tasks are being performed;
While performing inspections and repairs, inspects parts for wear or damage, communicates problems or potential problems to customer for proactive repair authorization
Accurately and legibly completes service orders with detail of work performed, problems found, proper pricing for parts and labor; communicates the services performed to customers emphasizing value received
Competently repairs or replaces parts such as pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings, carburetors, blowers, generators, distributors, starters, and pumps, crankshafts and cylinder blocks.
Works in a clean organized manner that results in an efficient, safe and professionally appearing shop
Attends all safety meetings and training classes as scheduled; consistently obeys all safety policies and regulations; consistently uses safety equipment and clothing; drives safely and defensively
Qualifications:
Fully trained/minimum of one to two years of relevant experience.
ASE certifications preferred.
