Job Title : Data Center Support Technician
Location : Santa Clara, CA
Duration : 6-12+ Months

Basic

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience with Information Technology as Data Center Server Onsite Support Technician (Hands & Feet-Server)

Expertise:
  • Experience in various hands and feet activities Unpacking, racking and stacking, railing, asset tagging, initial jumpstart of servers, install to designated racks, power connectivity, network connectivity, fiber connectivity from device to corresponding patch panel and PDUs.
  • Relocating all equipment as related to the project scope, which includes, but is not limited to: computers and servers, lab equipment, and prototype systems. This equipment may be found in offices, labs, test floor areas, and data centers.
  • Good knowledge and experience in De-commission servers (including removal of all cables and assets and preparing / packing (lite) for return shipment) and hardware break-fix.
  • Experience in replacing defective parts and systems, including those for preventive maintenance as required, Dismantle and dispose (shutdown and disposal at the end of the lifecycle) systems and components in accordance with Customer policy and in Compliance with applicable Law.
  • Strong hands on experience in Hands and feet support for Tape Media which includes Loading the tapes into/removing from tape libraries, Logging and tracking physical tapes that are checked in and out, off-siting tapes and replenishing the tapes as per instruction from support team
  • Experience in performing light industrial work which involves and executes a safe and coordinated series of operations to move, transport HPC/SDI Data Center Facilities assets from receiving to designated landing/removal zones in the Data Center
  • Aware of ITSM processes (Incident management, problem management, change management, release management, configuration management, SLA management, Availability Management)
  • Aware of Labeling and cabling of both Network and Server racks

Desired Skill set:
  • Knowledge in Windows and Linux Server Administration
  • Scripting knowledge to automate troubleshooting
  • Willingness and ability to teach and train others.
  • Patience to adhere to Knowledge of best practices including maintenance windows and change control procedures
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control and monitoring of Server infrastructure
  • Analytical and Communication skills
  • Ticket trend analysis and RCA for repetitive incidents
  • The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. Should be able to communicate by telephone, email or face to face. Travel may be required as per the job requirements.
