Job DescriptionComponent Design Engineers are responsible for the design and development of electronic components. Responsibilities may include: the design of chip layout circuit design, circuit checking, device evaluation and characterization, documentation of specifications, prototype construction and checkout, modification and evaluation of semiconductor devices and components, performing developmental and/or test work, reviewing product requirements and logic diagrams, planning and organizing design projects or phases of design projects. Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur. Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgement.QualificationsIn this position, you will be part of the Centralized Design Acceleration and Operations team CDAO working on the development and support of next generation Optical/Electrical full custom circuits for the Silicon Photonics Production Division. You will assume a technical leadership role and deliver solutions for a wide range of next generation of photonics designs. Primary focus is working with design and fab teams to architect and manage the PDKs for OPTO/Electronic design space. Establish optimal processes for cell hierarchy and library creation. Establish and deploy optimal revision control/repository/tagging methodologies for Photonics projects. Job responsibilities will span driving production PDK collateral to enabling device layout/simulation. Will be collaborating with a matrixed team of design, DA, Fab and Layout teams to enable photonic integrated circuits on a large scale.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in EE/CS with 6+ years of experience or BS with 9+ years of industry experience in design automation, tools, flows and Methods (PDK) development5+ years of experience with Cadence, Synopsys and/or Mentor tools is expected along with the ability to define and develop tools & flowsPreferred QualificationsExperience in developing and using photonics tools, flows and methods (PDK) developmentExperience with foundries tape-in/tape outExperience in leading a matrixed team of DA's, PDE's & LO in defining and executing challenging layout projectsStrong programming skills: Unix, Perl, Python, Skill, Tcl, C/C or otherIn depth understanding of DesignSync, including
Native DesignSync mirrors, Cadence Objects, Tagging, Access control
In depth knowledge of design hierarchy and planningIn depth knowledge of design kit creation including:
Kit organization, Technology Development interaction, Release management, QA
Knowledge of Project Structure and Data Management - functions and flowsKnowledge of GIT and revision control methodology - GateKeeper a plusDemonstrated expertise and proficiency in backend design EDA tools from CAD vendors such as Synopsys Cadence. Cadence/Virtuoso
