Thompson & Harvey are looking for a dispatcher in our Santa Maria CA location
JOB OVERVIEW: Fuel Transportation Company seeking a highly motivated, detailed-oriented individual needed to dispatch trucks and ensure all loads are delivered on time every time.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Receive calls from customers
2. Works alone and with other dispatchers to ensure loads are delivered
3. Uses fuel management software to monitor fuel demand
4. Takes all overnight calls and resolve any issues as able. If not, then direct the call to the appropriate on-call resources
5. Proactively manage and complete/resolve events happening overnight such as accidents, employee injuries and spills
6. Report all accidents and incidents to management
7. Receives paperwork from drivers and reviews to make sure paperwork is correct
8. Reviews and scans paperwork to corporate office
9. Reviews Driver's Daily Logs and works with Security Adviser to insure compliance
10. Maintains Driver Inspection Vehicle Reports files
11. Other duties/tasks as assigned as business need changes
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND TRAINING:
1. Ability to plan in detail
2. Strong communication skills
3. Ability to handle and organize large volume of calls and problems at the same time
4. Must work well under pressure
5. Ability to thrive in a constantly changing chaotic environment and consistently meet tight timelines
6. Ability to coordinate with other trucking dispatchers, customers and drivers
7. Ability to work as a team member in communicating dispatch to drivers, customers and management
8. Willing to train. Experience in dispatch work, preferably for a trucking company a plus.
9. Geographic knowledge of California
10. Must be proficient with computer and appropriate software
11. Must be able to use office equipment such as scanners, copiers, and fax machines
12. Working knowledge of DOT regulations
PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE POSITION:
A. Requires prolonged walking, sitting, bending, stooping and telephone/radio communications
