PRAISE Behavior Services is seeking professionals who are dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities improve their quality of life. The direct staff position works in the home of the individuals we serve, providing one on one instruction. We work with all ages, including 0-3 years (Early Intervention), 2-18 (Childhood and Adolescence), and 18+(Adults). The majority of our individuals fall between the ages of 2 ½ and 10. While we work with a variety of developmental delays and diagnosis, we primarily serve the autism community. The rapport the direct staff interventionists builds with the child is crucial to the success of the behavior program in place. A direct staff is responsible for working on skill deficits and behavior excesses that the child has. The staff must also foster creativity when working with the child in order to motivate him/her.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide behavior management, discrete trial training, fluency instruction, verbal behavior intervention, social skills training, applied behavioral analysis and parent education to families with developmental disabilities. Each session will last 2-3 hours depending on family needs. Instructors will follow through with the appropriate services or tactics as determined by the agency's Program Supervisor.

Collect data and fill in the program checklist using the accurate and appropriate percentages throughout each session.

Indicate a need to check for mastery and introduction of new programs into the program list to the Program Coordinator on each individual case.

Attend family clinic meetings as directed by the Program Supervisor on each individual case.

Maintain contact via phone a minimum of once per week with the Program Supervisor.

Attend monthly staff meetings and professional development meetings.

Report any incidents and communication from the parents to the Program Coordinator on each case.

Contact the Program Coordinator and family at least 24 hours prior to missing a shift. The missed shift must be rescheduled for a time during the same month.

Attend to other duties assigned and/or approved by the Supervisor, Administrator or Clinical Director.

Requirements:

Have a telephone and reliable method to record scheduled appointments and return phone calls within 24 hours.

CPR and First Aid Certifications

Current TB clearance

DOJ/FBI clearance

Have reliable transportation, posses a current CA driver's license and current liability insurance for the vehicle. Also, the willingness to drive and work in communities other than your own. Client assignments take into consideration location of your residence as well as scheduling needs.

Stand, sit, twist, kneel, bend-over, crouch down, walk, and sit/play on the floor for extended periods of time.

Be able to lift, push and pull up to 40 pounds without assistance from another adult.

Must be self-motivated, responsible, honest, articulate and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Present a professional demeanor, be well organized, and pay attention to detail.

Have excellent time management skills.

Be able to serve culturally and linguistically diverse families in low and high social economic status areas.

Be comfortable working in homes (studio apt., housing projects, etc.) of families with limited resources.

Maintain professional boundaries, professional composure, and work well under pressure.

Politely interact with individuals and families who may be uncooperative or aloof.

Maintain professionalism if and when a client aggresses, self-injures, tantrums, screams, etc.

Implement behavior modification strategies and discrete trial teaching under agency supervision.

Effectively communicate with others (clients, family members, agency staff)

Accept, follow, and implement direction from agency representatives.

Be creative, spontaneous, excited, and animated in your gestures, facial expressions and voice interactions.

Be comfortable around children.
