Dunn School is a private boarding and day school located in the Santa Ynez Valley of Californias beautiful Central Coast. As a full-time classroom teacher, you will be responsible for teaching sections of Spanish in our World Language Department. The Dunn School world language curriculum is taught in grades 7 through 12 and seeks to build conversational and academic language proficiency in all Dunn students. The department employs the TPRS (Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling) approach to build linguistic competencies and to create a joy of learning language. As a Dunn School world language teacher, you will teach sections of Spanish at different levels. As a full-time faculty member, you will be involved with other facets of the Dunn School boarding community such as coaching, advising, and residential duties.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Teach 4 to 5 sections of Spanish

- Teach 1-2 Wednesday afternoon enrichment classes

- Coach 1 season of after-school athletics or activities

- Student advisor (4-6 students)

- Participation in the Dunn School Leadership Program

- Other duties and roles to be determined

- If housing is provided there will be residential duty required:

- Weeknight dormitory duty (2-3 nights/month Sunday-Thursday)

- Weekend duty (approximately five weekend duty shifts and five Friday night duty shifts)

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following professional skills and characteristics:

- Spanish language teaching experience (certification is not required) in a 9th- through 12th-grade educational environment.

- Bachelors degree

- Ability to work collaboratively

- Strong writing skills

- Academic computer literacy

- A desire to learn and grow professionally
