Come join the management team at the beautiful Alisal Ranch resort/hotel in Solvang, CA! We are looking for a top performing Hotel/Resort Assistant General Manager. This opportunity is ideal for a Director of Food and Beverage or Director of Rooms looking to grow into a Hotel General Manager role. Oversees the Hotel Operations for: Food & Beverage Departments (multiple outlets), Rooms Departments (Front Office, Bell, Concierge and Housekeeping), Spa, Lake, Barn, and Activities. In addition, this position is responsible for helping to ensure the overall operating performance, guest satisfaction, and financial results for the property.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Communicates frequently as needed with Department Heads and fellow Executive Committee to ensure that Hotel Operations are aligned for all guests (leisure and group).

Works with department managers to establish staffing requirements for all guest-facing departments, obtain/provide current information regarding daily activities/functions and upcoming events, and approves all purchase requisitions, to ensure operational costs are kept within forecasted budgetary guidelines.

Interviews, selects, trains, appraises, coaches, counsels, and disciplines all management personnel.

Conducts Operations Meeting to ensure hotel wide operational alignment. Ensures that everyone is kept current on pertinent hotel information and activities.

Monitors guest comments and improves upon service levels.

Works with upper-level management and ownership to analyze current business and industry trends; projects future expectations and needs; develops long term budgets and capital improvement plans for within the hotel.

Evaluate changes in guest needs, the hotels guest mix and industry competitive set, to recommend appropriate product/service and operational changes necessary to ensure guest and employee satisfaction, while maintaining market dominance and exceptional financial performance.

Responsible for overall hotel guest satisfaction and resolution of guest problems or complaints.

Responsible for the entire hotel operation in the absence of the General Manager.

Qualifications

Six to eight years of progressive management experience in the upscale or luxury market segment.

Excellent planning, management, leadership, organizational, guest services and communication skills.

Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.

Able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
