The Santa Barbara County Education Office seeks qualified candidates for the position of Food Service Worker.
The position:
Under general supervision, prepare meals and snacks from a pre-planned menu for enrolled parents (PALS) and children (Child Care Food Program); serve meals/snacks; maintain clean working food area, ensure sanitation of equipment, dishes, and food preparation area.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
Follow a pre-planned menu to prepare daily meals and snacks for parents and children. Prepare breakfast, lunch, snacks, and baby-bottles as needed; serve meals and snacks. Assure compliance with approved safety practices and maintain sanitary working conditions. Ensure that food is properly and safely handled, i.e. food temperatures, sanitation and storage. Maintain meal counts; prepare routine reports. On a daily basis launder bibs and washcloths. On a daily basis wash dishes, sanitize counter tops and tables, sweep areas where meals have been prepared and served. Maintain a high level of personal hygiene. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Rules and regulations pertaining to health and safety in food preparation. Preparation and serving a variety of food in large quantities. Basic use of kitchen utensils, equipment, and appliances. Personal hygiene.
Education:
High school diploma preferred; food service certification highly desirable
Experience:
Any combination of education, experience and training that demonstrates the
knowledge and abilities required to perform the job.
