Agricultural Aide: $12.67-$14.03 per hour: Agricultural Technician 1: $14.53-$17.34 per hour
Full time, temporary (seasonal) positions.
Under the supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist, the incumbent will conduct field work monitoring or controlling exotic agricultural insect pests or plant diseases. The duties include but are not limited to:
-Follow established protocols for survey, eradication or trapping. May service traps, perform insect sweeps, visually inspect for target pest damage on local plant hosts or conduct eradication treatments (mixing and application of spray materials).
-Incumbent must be able to read maps to navigate to multiple locations when performing field activities. Must be able to draw maps to show exact geographic locations. Use GPS technology to identify and document locations of samples collected, and properly package samples to maintain sample integrity.
-Keep daily records of work completed, ie, number of traps serviced, properties treated, acreage surveyed, samples collected and other topics as needed.
-Screen wet and dry traps for target insect pests. Examine contents of traps, which may contain hundreds of insects and debris to make preliminary identifications of suspect target pests.
-Survey residential and commercial properties for plants or plant disease symptoms and properly collect plant samples.
-The incumbent in this position must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work; work well under pressure; work independently and in cooperation with other staff members in completing assigned work and meeting required deadlines.
