This is a great opportunity for anyone in the Lompoc area looking for work as a Haver Operator. This position is Full Time and long term. The schedule for this position is 24/7 rotating shifts, from the hours of 3:30 pm to 12 am (midnight), 12 am (midnight) to 8:30 am, and 7 am to 4:30 pm (shifts may vary). Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Operate and maintain the Haver Packaging system, 2AP Packaging system, and Semi-Bulk Packaging Stations

Production, maintenance, and delivery (dispositioning) of packed/palletized product to their proper areas

Ensure the safe operations of the unit and the safety of the surrounding area

Meet qualifications and production standards for the equipment (the standard for this equipment is a minimum of 25 short tons per hour. Any rejected material attributed to the Operator will be deducted from the final production rate. The equipment is designed to run automatically and thus can operate without the Operator for short periods of time. The equipment is not to be shut down for breaks and lunch periods. The only downtime should be for preventative maintenance and repairs.)

Use skills from the semi-bulk, automatic packer, maintenance, electrician, and lift truck classifications

Correctly use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment at all times

Ensure that you are always correctly using and maintaining the application of Lock out and Tag out procedures and adhere to environmental reporting procedures

Perform clean out functions to minimize “grade contamination” due to grade changes when necessary

Keep daily records of productivity and efficiency and submit to management at the end of each shift

Complete all data entry on production produced

Perform normal preventative maintenance checks and repairs as established by the company in an effort to meet the efficiency standard, including but not limited to: photo eyes, limit switches, print head replacement, motors or gearmotors less than 15 HP, cylinders, sprockets and chains, etc…

Retrieve empty bags, stretch film and pallets from inventory, and maintain the inventory in good condition

Keep accurate records of empty bag, stretch film, and pallet usage

Immediately report any quality issues with raw materials to management

Operate semi-bulk packaging and alternate between paper bag packaging and semi-bulk packaging as determined by management

Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

Must possess skills to perform repairs on equipment, including: electrical and mechanical knowledge, and general repair knowledge

This position requires a set of tools to perform the work – cost of the original set of tools will be borne by the employee

High School Diploma or GED or one to three months of related experience and/pr training

Good knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles, and analytical abilities

Ability to properly communicate through both oral and written communication

Strong basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals)

Ability to properly follow written and verbal instructions

Ability to regularly stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls

Ability to frequently talk or hear and climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, reach, and stand for an entire shift

Must be able to climb up and down many flights of stairs and ladders, walk on many narrow cat-walks – in and around moving machinery and conveyors, and other precarious places

Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds

Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

This position requires steel toe boots, the client will reimburse the chosen applicant up to $100

This work environment will require the chosen applicant to regularly work near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration and the employee occasionally works in high, precarious places, and in outside weather conditions. The employee will also occasionally be exposed to fumes and airborne particles and toxic and caustic chemicals.
