General Description

The Youth and Family Adolescent Treatment Program provides outpatient Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) treatment to assist adolescent clients to obtain and maintain sobriety. Adolescent treatment will address youth-specific developmental issues, provide comprehensive and integrated services, involve families, and allow youth to remain in the most appropriate, but least restrictive setting, so they can be served within their families, classroom and community. The AOD Counselor will provide treatment services that will include best practice individual and group counseling and drug testing that is age appropriate. The AOD Counselor may also provide family counseling, crisis counseling, and relapse prevention counseling as needed.

Sample of Specific Duties/Responsibilities

Experience and a passion for working with adolescents and young adults 12-24 with a history of substance use and is able to maintain professional boundaries with clients.

Conduct client screening and intakes, psychosocial assessments, client and family orientation, development of treatment plans, crisis intervention, group, individual sessions, discharge summary and planning, drug testing, case management and coordination of treatment services with probation, school and other referral sources.

Responsible for the provision of clinical services to clients and for developing treatment plans and ongoing documentation in the clinical management system.

Employment Standards

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

A Drug and Alcohol Counselor must meet the minimum certificate requirements set by the State of California to perform drug counseling services. Certified Addictions Treatment Counselor or Registered for Counselor Certification. Registered Counselor must obtain their CATC within 3 years.

Two (2) years' experience working with adolescents and their families in the drug & alcohol field is required.

Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.

Classification, Hours and Pay Rate

The position has part-time and full-time opportunities available. Please indicate in your application how many hours you are looking for (full-time or part-time).

Positons working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for sick leave accrual, vacation accrual, plus holidays. Positions working 30 or more hours per week are eligible for the same sick leave, vacation, and holidays, plus benefits: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and a 403(b) retirement plan.

Pay rate is dependent upon experience.
