The Position:

Family Service Agency is contracted with the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Barbara (HACSB) to provide behavioral health services to support the unique needs of residents of HACSB. The Behavioral Health Social Worker will provide mental health assessment and in some situations mental health counseling, as well as connect HACSB residents with resources that promote housing retention, stability, and increased self-sufficiency. Services are provided in the Housing Authority or FSA offices, in residents homes, and/or in the community M-F between 8:30am-5:30 pm. This position reports to and is supervised by the Behavioral Health Program Director.

Sample of Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide and/or arrange crisis intervention services and mental health assessments and treatment planning. In some situations, provide mental health counseling.

Support residents in accessing substance abuse counseling/recovery and/or medical/mental health services and provide coordination of behavioral health and clinical services.

Collaborate with Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness, the Holman Group, and Medicare to ensure access to treatment for qualifying residents.

Collaborate with HACSB staff and landlords to address/resolve lease/compliance issues.

Provide and/or arrange for residents to develop/strengthen independent living skills.

Employment Standards:

Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).

Excellent clinical, interpersonal, analytical, computer, written, and verbal communication skills required.

Professional attitude, enjoyment of teamwork, and ability to maintain confidentiality a must.

Minimum of 2 years providing individual, couples, and family counseling with diverse communities, low-income clients, the homeless and formerly homeless, seniors, and the disabled preferred.

Experience using short-term, trauma-informed interventions with clients with mild to severe mental illness preferred.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Valid CA driver license and proof of insurance required.

Classification, Hours and Pay Rate:

The position has part-time and full-time opportunities available. Please indicate in your application how many hours you are looking for (must be willing to work at least 20 hours/week).

Positons working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for sick leave accrual, vacation accrual, plus holidays. Positions working 30 or more hours per week are eligible for the same sick leave, vacation, and holidays, plus benefits: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and a 403(b) retirement plan.

Pay is dependent on experience.
