Case Manager – North County, Safe Parking Program®, New Beginnings. 40 hours per week/full-time, non-exempt Case Manager position. Program provides overnight safe parking shelter for individuals and families who live in their vehicles; and case management and rapid re-housing assistance to help the homeless return to living in traditional and permanent housing.

Responsibilities and tasks include a wide range of case management activities working with the homeless population – primarily with adults – including shared oversight and management of the internally renowned Safe Parking Program and its lot monitoring activities in North County, initially in Lompoc and Santa Maria; rapid rehousing case management tasks helping the homeless secure housing and look for available housing/rental units, coordinating housing with landlords, connecting the homeless with employment, community resources and government and health benefits, and developing case plans with clients in order to help them stabilize and resume healthy functioning; coordinating with and participating in coordinated entry rapid rehousing activities; resume preparation, job coaching and connection to employment opportunities; food distribution and connection to resources during street outreach activities; collection of data and shared responsibility for tracking outcomes and program performance measures; community advocacy and participation in collaborative task force activities; presenting and providing information to community members and organizations about the program; working with the media; and coordinating with inter-agency programs and activities.

The ideal candidate has experience providing case management activities to the homeless population and embraces a Housing First approach to helping homeless individuals and families stabilize and return to permanent and traditional housing. The position requires that the case manager be an empathic and compassionate listener with solid boundaries. The case manager must have a demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task, coordinate community-wide activities, collaborate with partner agencies, delegate tasks, implement grant/programmatic activities, and manage staff. Experience with HMIS preferred and/or a solid demonstrated ability to use complex software and Microsoft Excel for data collection and reporting. The position requires initiative, resourcefulness, and the ability to be self-directed and work autonomously. Masters degree in psychology, social work, or counseling preferred but not required, however, this is not a clinical position. Clinical supervision is available for pre-licensed individuals. Bi-lingual a plus but not required.

Position begins asap. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 9-5 although there will be some night time and weekend hours on occasion to attend community events and/or to manage any off-hour client crises that may arise. Case manager will address infrequent on-call responsibilities for shelter lots. The case manager will travel between north and south county for agency meetings. Must have a working vehicle with liability insurance and pass a background check. Salary is $21 per hour with basic medical and dental benefits provided, as well as generous paid time off and mileage. Candidate must be willing to make at least a one-year commitment.
