We are seeking a responsible and caring individual as Director of Residential Services program in Santa Maria, serving adults with developmental disabilities. This is a full-time exempt position supporting various weekday, weekend and holiday hours as needed.
SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Director of Residential Services is responsible for carrying out program objectives for development, implementation, evaluation and training while maintaining high standards of programming and personal care for persons who are developmentally disabled, consistent with the Residential program design.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of services designed to meet the needs of individuals being served in the group homes
Assess referrals to the program and ensure that all paperwork and physical tests are completed for admission and work collaboratively with case management
Provide program orientation for all new staff and assign mentors to support new staff in their roles (ensuring that they meet the residents and have an understanding of their needs)
Ensure that staff receive all applicable and required training
Must be present at facility a sufficient number of hours to adequately administer the facility
Responsible for ensuring that Administrator Certificate for self and other administrators remains current and must complete 40 hours of continuing education every two (2) years during the certification period
Create and implement strategies for short and long term program growth
In conjunction with Executive Director, oversee marketing of program offerings to the community
Help organize and assist in marketing efforts and special events when applicable
Responsible for assisting in the recruitment, selection and training of Direct Support Professional staff as well as managers to support the Residential program in compliance with all labor laws, Community Care Licensing (CCL) and Tri-Counties Regional Center (TCRC) regulations
Supervise House Managers and arrange for regular Residential staff meetings
Develop systems to collect, analyze and evaluate program data to continuously improve on program model
Recommend and implement policies/procedures to strengthen and build on all aspects of Residential operations
Ensure staff evaluation and review in accordance with Agency policies and procedures
Coordinate and oversee the evaluation process for potential program participants
Monitor and assist (as needed) in the design of Individual Behavioral Management Plan including baselines and strategies; monitor proper implementation and documentation of the plan; make recommendation for changes, ensure plans are completed and summaries are signed off in a timely fashion
Keep and maintain records as necessary to meet the requirements of CCL and/or TCRC regarding Residential facilities
Ensure that the physical facility meets all Title 22 and Title 17 regulations and is inspection ready
Responsible for program billing and financials
Monitor and approve petty cash disbursement as it relates to program implementation
Monitor program supplies and submit requests for purchase to Accounting
Submit periodic reports to the Executive Director
Attend required meetings
Ensure that every facility is inspection ready and the homes are comfortable for the residents and meet all HCBS guidelines
Provide staff training
Ensure effective inter- and intra- facility communication and coordination of services
Assume responsibility for all Residential services and ensure program administrative coverage
Collaborate with family members, community partners, human service providers/vendors and volunteers while maximizing program services and meeting the needs of UCP WORK, Inc. program participants
Use crisis intervention techniques in emergency situations when consumers are in danger of injuring themselves or others
Develop and maintain in-service trainings as required
Comply with all UCP WORK Inc., OSHA, TCRC and CCL policies and procedures
In possession of (or able to complete certification training for) Administrator certificate.
Direct Service support and/or coverage as needed
Knowledge and use of technology
Other related duties, responsibilities and special projects on an as needed basis
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand, sit for long periods of time
Ability to go up and down stairs
Ability to speak, read, hear and understand technical written materials
Lifting may be required; may exceed 25 lbs.
Ability to bend, lift and carry
Full awareness of environmental stimuli
Ability to implement Crisis Management, Safety & ProACT techniques
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with emphasis in the areas of education, psychology, social science or related field (Additional experience and/or education may be substituted or waived)
Must be 21 years of age
Possess a High school diploma or GED
Within 6 months of becoming an administrator, shall receive 3 hr. training on HIV & 1 hr Training on TB update this every two years. If Administrator longer than 6 months- copy of this training certificate should be provided.
Required health screening, TB clearance, Criminal record clearance
Adult Residential Facility Administrator- Copy of current Administrator Certificate
Three (3) years experience working directly with individuals who are disabled, in group and individual situations
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in an agency, providing supervision and training for adults with developmental disabilities
Proven ability to work with and motivate staff
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple disciplines during emergency situations
Demonstrated ability to understand and implement programs in accordance with all local, state and federal laws
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality regarding persons served and other related information
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to complete tasks with numerous interruptions
Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
Ability to manipulate numbers
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (esp. Word, Excel, Outlook)
Compassion and respect for persons with disabilities
Must be available during disasters, per disaster plan
Valid CA Drivers License (incl. record acceptable to Agencys insurance carrier)
Valid certification in CPR/1st Aid (Training available)
In addition, the individual must pass all applicable background checks, medical and drug screenings. The individual must be compassionate and understand the importance of confidentiality.
