The Position:

The Family Support Services (FSS) Educator will provide education, support, and coaching to parents, couples, and families to promote respectful, positive, and nurturing family environments. One on one and classroom-based programming involves teaching principles, practices, and skills intended to help individuals and families develop and maintain healthy relationships, build effective co-parenting skills, and strengthen parental resilience. Services may extend to the home and/or community setting through infant and early childhood home visiting to strengthen parent-infant attachment, support bonding, ensure basic needs are met, and promote optimal child development. Through developmental screening, assessment, and education, the Educator will identify risks, promote strengths, and equip families with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive. By using established evidence-based curricula, Educators have the opportunity to bring families together, leading towards greater family strength and stability.

Availability to teach in the evenings is required. Clinical supervision available to Associate Clinical Social Workers (ASW).

Employment Standards:

Bachelors degree required in child development, education, social work, or related field.

Masters degree preferred in sociology, social work, child development or related field.

Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English and Spanish.

Ability to be welcoming and engaging in small and large group settings.

Excellent analytical, computer, written and verbal communication skills required.

Professional attitude, teamwork, and ability to maintain confidentiality a must.

Valid CA driver license required; reliable transportation is necessary to travel throughout Santa Barbara County.

Classification, Hours and Pay Rate

The position has part-time and full-time opportunities. Flexible schedules are available!

Positons working 20 or more hours per week are eligible for sick leave and vacation accrual, plus holidays. Positions working 30 or more hours per week are eligible for the same sick leave, vacation, and holidays, plus benefits: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and a 403(b) retirement plan.

Pay rate is dependent upon experience.
