The Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) is seeking School Based Counselors for Santa Maria elementary & junior high schools.
Valuable training experience for therapists interested in working with children/youth and families. Paid training and supervision provided. Opportunity to work for well-established county-wide non-profit organization in collaboration with the school district.
Santa Maria is a small town, family-oriented community. The right candidate will have a desire to learn skills to work with children and families experiencing trauma, low socio-economics, immigration and cultural challenges, incarceration, and substance abuse.
Qualifications:
LMFT, LCSW, LPCC or Intern (AMFT, ACSW, APCC)
will accept in-progress MA in Counseling/Psychology if enrolled in traineeship/practicum
or equivalent experience (for example PPS School Counselor with relevant training)
Experience working with children (preferably in school setting)
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred
AOD counseling training or experience preferred
School Based Counselor will:
Provide on-going individual therapy services to identified students
Meet with parents/guardians in support of students
Support and collaborate with teachers and administrators in advocacy for clients
Maintain client charts: Completes client assessment, creates treatment plans in conjunction with client/family, and completes progress notes in a timely manner
Provide additional support services based on client needs
Clinical supervision (for AMFT, ACSW, APCC or trainee) provided
Job hours worked coincide with school schedule (must be available during school hours). Position is for school year only (approx. 9 1/2 months)
Interview process will be in June and July. Positions to begin in August 2018.
Non-exempt positions, hourly rates: $18-$22/hour depending on qualifications & experience
Full time & part time positions available (20-40 hours/week)
