Cambrian Academy, in San Jose, is preparing for another great year and searching for more great teachers who enjoy teaching.
We are an independent private school, so we set our own education agenda and graduation standards that exceed those of our local government schools. It does not include Common Core or Critical Race Theory. If you are tired of seeing experimental fads and bizarre political agendas being forced onto children before they've been taught to think for themselves, you will be happy you found us. We have established our own comprehensive college preparatory program. 100% of our graduates are accepted to collegeall with multiple offers and most with some sort of scholarship assistance. [We are a non-religious school, but God, virtues, and American values are still welcome. We simply do not require classes in religion to graduate.]
Since our part-time positions often develop into full-time positions, additional subject skills will be of value when joining us part time. Ability to teach multiple subjects may result in starting FULL TIME.
We need teachers who can be positive role models for students, hold them to high expectations, and enthusiastically manage classes ranging in size from 6-12 students. Yes, our largest classes have 12 students.
We have a great Remote Learning program for those who remain concerned about COVID-19, but we returned to in-person learning June 15, 2020 for those who were ready. To this day, there has not been a single case here.
PART TIME with OPPORTUNITY FOR FULL TIME
Subjects with possible future openings:
MATH could start part-time July 12.
Computer Science: Understanding of hardware, operating systems, and some coding.
Visual Art: A variety of media, both physical and digital
Performing Art: Drama
Philosophy/Logic: Underlying understanding of Aristotelian Logic, and Objectivism to create a foundation before moving into the abstract
Psychology: Intro (our own intro that is meant to prepare teens for Psych 1, so they don't do too much self-diagnosis as they study various disorders) Psych 1, and AP Psych
Mandarin
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (minimum)
Successful experience in classroom teaching
Exceptional subject knowledge
Must be willing to learn and use Google Apps, including MEET.
Must have basic competence with computers, and no fear of copy machines
(ex. Able to at least make the first pass at attempting to restart a computer, reconnect to the Internet, or un-jam the copier, while maintaining composure)
Must maintain UC approval status of any A to G class
Must maintain good student progress records and parent communication
Must believe in the importance of attending a 4-year college after high school
Must contribute a positive, proactive attitude to the team. Seriously, no whiners!
