Associate Teacher Position Opening for the 2024-25 School Year
We seek a positive role model who embraces life-long learning and demonstrates a strong work ethic as well as a collaborative approach to education. An appreciation of the Montessori philosophy and/or a strong desire to learn about Montessori are essential. Teachers must have the ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children, a high degree of emotional maturity and stability, and the good judgment to handle challenges as they occur.
Core Responsibilities and Duties
Communicating, coordinating, and collaborating with the other teachers
Supervision of students in the classes, on the yard, and at the park
Actively guiding student conflict resolution using Positive Discipline and age-appropriate tools
Observing students at work and at play and sharing insights and notes with teachers, as helpful
Participating in teaching team meetings and curriculum planning, as helpful
Checking work and helping with classroom record-keeping
Participating in weekly staff meetings and occasional all staff meetings
Participating in all site and all school events and projects as prescribed by school
Participating in school admissions and parent education events as prescribed by school
Maintaining a tidy, clean and safe classroom environment by frequently cleaning and sanitizing classroom work areas and the didactic materials
Conducting daily screenings and checks of students to determine health and well-being when greeting students and parents each day
Providing parent support for home learning if the school must go remote (Shelter-in-place orders, smoke days, or other disaster)
Maintaining up-to-date CPR, First Aid, mandated reporter training, and other prescribed certificates as needed
Other professional qualities include:
1. Bachelor's degree, preferred; 2 years of college required.
2. Experience working with children, ages K - 8th-grade preferred.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
4. Montessori training and experience are preferred, but not required.

Compensation
East Bay Montessori offers competitive salaries, paid days off and generous paid breaks. Salary range for the Associate Teacher is $55,640 - $72,280 with a 4-year degree; $23 - $29 with at least 2 years of college and no degree. Benefits: health, dental, retirement.
