ORG Summary

Omakase Restaurant Group is seeking line cooks and pastry cooks to work at our new concept, Niku Steakhouse in SOMA. We are looking for efficient, outgoing individuals who can multitask in a fast paced environment and work with the entire team.

Schedule:

This is a full time position that requires evening availability.

This position requires a flexible schedule with holiday, weekend and evening work as needed

Physical Demands

1. Must be able to stand long periods of time standing, walking, bending and constant movement

2. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds

3. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

- Consistency with preparation, cooking and garnishing of food

- Keeping up with the latest trend by creating an appealing presentation and garnishes

- Daily inspections of all food prepared for service; ensure cleanliness and sanitation procedures are followed

- Maintain all specialized Niku equipment and ensure cleaning protocols are followed

- Maintain clean work areas as required by health, safety and sanitary standards; equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored

- Order food and supplies when needed and able to select fresh and superior ingredients

- Train and motivate FOH and BOH staff

- Perform monthly inventories

- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and all company policies

Qualifications

- Two years experience working on the line in a fine dining kitchen.

- Minimum one year experience in a Michelin star restaurant.

- Must have experience conversing and serving guests while preparing dishes in a fine dining environment.

- Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up.

- Be well-groomed at all times.

- An educated palate.

- Prior experience in preparing Japanese cuisine is a plus!

- Must be responsible, reliable, able to work under pressure and work long hours.

- Problem solving skills; ability to think on your feet and under pressure while maintaining a positive outlook.

- Ability to work as part of a team or independently; initiates projects instead of waiting for instruction.

- Must be flexible and able to handle last minute changes; ability to multitask.

- Knowledge of restaurant operations preferably for both front of the house and back of the house operations.

- Desire to learn and grow.

- California Food Handler's Card
