Team Leadership
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Manage Mariposa Quality standards. Manage with integrity, honesty, and knowledge of the gluten-free allergen market
Ensure food quality and food safety. Maintain high sanitation and quality control standards, especially in this COVID environment.
Delegate and communicate responsibilities to team members to keep the Bakeshop clean and operating smoothly
Recruit qualified candidates and ensure work expectations are clearly communicated to new team members
Train new team members on processes in the Bakeshop, including cake writing, culinary and sandwich prep, pulling orders, helping customers, …etc.
Engage frequently with team members to gain insight into workload and progress, address any challenges, and correct as needed. Treat all employees fairly and equally
Provide continuous coaching and follow-up to develop the team and manage performance; deliver constructive feedback, conduct annual reviews, and address any performance issues in a timely, effective manner
Set goals for team members and model a teamwork environment
Identify future leaders and cross-trains team members as appropriate to build individual capabilities and ensure adequate bakery coverage
Maintain hands-on knowledge of the bakeshop role and step in regularly to perform various responsibilities as business needs dictate
Maintain a positive attitude to support both a positive customer service experience and to keep team members motivated. Hold teams accountable for the customer service experience they provide
Manage workflow to keep orders organized and going out in the order they came in
Work well under pressure during the peak season of November/December
Business Operations
Facilitate the opening and closing of the Bakeshop, including cash-drawer balancing and creating checklists for team members
Create weekly schedules to ensure Bakeshop coverage
Manage and approve daily timestamps and correct team member hours as needed
Manage and balance daily Credit Card Tip sheet
Participate in weekly Product Meetings
Communicate weekly product meeting notes, calendar, production planning, and teamwork schedule and adjust bakery coverage based on changing business trends
Operate Bakeshop within budget and labor ratio guidelines
Set weekly inventory par levels based on sales forecast, process daily supply orders, and conducts monthly inventory
Ensures Mariposa products, services, bakeshop environment, and visual merchandising standards are consistently upheld and the Bakeshop operations adhere to food and health safety standards
Manage sales reports, labor reports, product inventory reports, and waste logs
Other administrative duties for the successful operation of the Bakeshop
Desired Experience
This position requires previous experience in management:
Managerial experience in the food and beverage industry 2-4 years
Supervision – 1-2 years
Customer service experience in a café or restaurant environment – 1-2 years
ServSafe Manager Certificate
Job Skills
We are looking for these skills:
Experience generating financial reports from the Square POS system
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing
Ability to use various software applications, including MS Word, Excel, Google Docs, Square, and Shopify
Demonstrated experience in building community relationships
Ability to manage bakeshop operations independently
Ability to train and document training of team members
Ability to manage resources effectively and ensure service levels are achieved at all times
Strong organization and planning skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand on your feet for an entire shift
Bend and stoop to grasp objects. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat
Bend and lift loads, not to exceed 50 pounds. Push and pull carts weighing up to 25 pounds
Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation
Environmental exposures to extreme temperatures (freezers)
Schedule
Weekends are the busiest time in the Bakeshop. The schedule for this position is Full-Time
Tuesday-Friday, 8:15am-4:30pm
Saturday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
Benefits: Dental after 30 days, Medical after 90 days, 401k after one year
Times may vary depending on business needs. Time off is not permitted during November and December and the Manager must be present during those critical holiday months
