About us:

Akira aims to offer our neighborhood and customers high quality traditional Japanese cuisine in an inviting and warm atmosphere. Akira restaurant is located in the lower Pacific Heights neighborhood. We are looking for people passionate about food and highly motivated to deliver the highest standards of customer service. We have multiple full, part-time positions and shifts.

Prior experience as server, wait staff, runner, cashier, customer service or other restaurant and food service related jobs is highly desirable.

Sushi Chef Qualifications:

- At least 1 year minimum work experience preferred

- Knowledge of Sushi varieties and Japanese dishes

- Practice proper food handling and exceptional knife skills

- Used to working in a fast paced environment/high volume restaurant

- Able to prepare and execute food to order in an open kitchen

-Prep, store and inventory of fish

- Must have valid food handlers card

-Friendly personality

-Must be available to work 5 days a week lunch or dinner shift available

Kitchen Helper Requirements/Responsibilities:

Operating multiple kitchen equipment (grills, deep fryers, oven, steam tables, rice cookers etc.)

-Cooking meats, rice, fries and various other ingredients

-Reading order tickets and assembling food in a fast and efficient manner

-Following direction and consolidating orders

-Maintaining appropriate quality control and consistently monitoring all food levels

-Maintaining proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards

-Cleaning Restaurant Facilities

-Efficient, dependable, and responsible

-Ability to work under pressure and multi-task in a fast-paced environment

-Be able to lift, lower, and carrying packages that typically weigh 5 - 30 lbs.

-Able to work Monday to Friday lunch shift

Server Requirement/Responsibilities

-One year experience in Japanese Restaurant

-Knowledge of Japanese fish and food item, but willing to train the right one

-Basic knowledge of food preparation

-Basic knowledge of wine and beer (knowing about Japanese beverage is a PLUS)

-Friendly with strong communication skills (listening and verbal)

-Professional appearance and demeanor

-Great customer service skills

-An ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced environment

-Attention to detail

-Organized and efficient

-Team player

-Be able to operate a POS system, and to handle cash and all financial transactions

-Must have flexible schedule that will include nights, weekends and holidays

-Excellent people skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure

-Must have valid or be able obtain a food handler card in first 30 days

Server position is generally a part-time restaurant job

Experience in restaurant or customer service industry preferred but will train the right candidate.
