Upcoming Analyst Position at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

We intend to hire a full time data analyst who can analyze and report on data from large, complex relational databases at the Veterans Health Administration in the Department of Veterans Affairs. The analyst will work on national research and/or operational projects that have a direct and meaningful impact on the mental health care provided to millions of Veterans in the largest integrated health care system in the United States. The position will offer opportunities for creativity as well as learning a specific subject area and improving technical skills.

The ideal candidate will be proficient in SQL programming and have an understanding of health care-related data or administrative coding systems in health care (e.g., ICD-10, CPT, SNOMED-CT). Additional desirable skills or experience would include statistics; quality improvement, measurement, and assurance; health care operations; health services research; and data science. Analytic training or experience directly relevant mental health and substance use disorders is especially desirable.

Basic Position Details

Position will be located in Menlo Park, CA

Projected start will be in July 2019

This position will be a full time, term position, with complete benefits package, at the GS-11 to GS-12 level, depending on level of training and experience (https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/pay-leave/pay-systems/general-schedule/). Regulations require that the applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
