Perfect for students, nurses, moms, or just someone who is caring, capable and wants to work. Since this is a residential situation with a female, the client is requesting a female only.

The Job: Companionship

The job is in Novato, in Marin County. Your client has a mild disability and is also blind. She is bright, articulate, walking, talking and lovely! Everyone loves her and so will you. Your kindness, intelligence, required experience with people with disabilities, personal communication skills, sense of humor and common sense will serve you well in this interesting and challenging position. There is no medical care involved. The job will be engaging the client and using all of your talents. And you will be loved and appreciated by our agency!

You will be offering Supported Living Services to help her stay safe and happy in her own lovely apartment and community in Novato.

You will be doing some laundry, cooking, some housekeeping, but not more than 20% of the time. You will engage in fun activities that you plan, life guidance, protection, educational opportunities, engagement and daily plans. You will be working independently but provided assistance and training from the central agency, Little Red Wagon, as you learn. Your experience with people with disabilities is required, as well as your self-confidence, strong cooking and shopping skills, professionalism, competence, toughness, and willingness to learn.

Your Pay and Benefits

1. You will be paid a training rate of $12.85 an hour for all training and meeting hours, with a minimum of twenty hours.

2. After training you will be paid $15.78 an hour for the shifts above, plus any and all work or activity mileage and expenses reimbursed. All movie tickets and events paid for.

3. You will be paid sick leave

4. You will be paid 1.5 x for any overtime over 40 hours a week.

5. After three months of work with merit, a health insurance stipend up to $50.00 toward your premium will be offered. We also pay $5.00 a month toward your data plan.

Requirements

You will drive for errands and activities. You must have your own insured, clean, reliable car with at least two seat belts, a clean driving record (we will check), be computer literate, access to daily email and your own cell phone, preferably a smart phone. Because there is driving involved in the job, you cannot be on any medication with a driving warning or that limits driving. You must have a current CPR certification or arrange for one within 30 days. You must speak very clear English as your client sometimes has difficulty understanding language. You must write clear English as there is daily written documentation. A college degree is not required but you must be a drug-free, working in a smoke free environment, with a happy heart. We will drug test.

You will be fingerprinted and thoroughly background checked so you can confirm with us what we already assumethat you are trustworthy.
