Urban Alchemy, Human Resources Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Coordinator is an essential part of the Human Resources team handling various administrative responsibilities related to the management of employees. This is a high-volume position with numerous garnishments, unemployment claims, National Medical Support Notices, and verification of employment requests that come in daily. In addition to these duties, the Human Resources Coordinator will also be responsible for onboarding new employees into the company, ensuring a smooth and effective integration process. This role will collaborate closely with Practitioners, Supervisors, payroll, and other HR team members to support various HR initiatives and projects.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Specific:
Handle the processing of garnishment orders promptly and accurately, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies
Respond to unemployment claim inquiries and requests in a timely manner, providing necessary documentation and information as needed
Respond to verification of employment requests on a timely basis
Facilitate the processing of National Medical Support Notices, collaborating with relevant parties
to ensure accurate reporting and compliance with regulations
Oversee the onboarding process for new employees, assisting with the completion of new hire
paperwork and ensuring compliance with hiring regulations.
Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including data entry, filing, and
maintaining HR records
Collaborate with Human Resources leadership team to assist in various HR projects, such as
employee engagement initiatives, benefits administration, or recruitment efforts
Effectively communicate with internal teams and external agencies to address inquiries, resolve
issues, and maintain positive relationships
Stay up-to-date with relevant labor laws, regulations, and industry trends to ensure the
company's HR practices remain compliant
Handle sensitive employee information with utmost confidentiality and discretion inclusive of
handling legally mandated request for records
Identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest ways to streamline HR procedures
for increased efficiency
Maintain accurate and well-organized records, ensuring all HR-related documents are properly
filed and accessible when needed
General:
Will treat all Urban Alchemy guests, staff and stakeholders with compassion and respect

Adhere to established procedures to provide a safe working environment including complying
with OSHA, state, and local regulations as well as Urban Alchemy’s policies
Attend orientation and any additional training required by Urban Alchemy or our funders

Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Position Specific:
2+ years of HR administrative experience for a mid to large-sized company
Has essential knowledge of HR administrative duties; prior garnishment experience strongly
preferred
Maintains strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently and prioritize
deadlines effectively
Possess exceptional attention to detail to ensure accurate completion of documentation and
compliance with legal requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues, external agencies,
and employees professionally
Has excellent computer skills and knowledge of how to use office software programs, including
HRIS systems and Google Suite
Ability to identify and resolve issues independently or by seeking guidance when necessary
Ability to be resourceful with strong analytical skills with the ability to think creatively to solve
problems
Ability to be a genuine team player with an interest in building community and authentic
relationships
Ability to be comfortable in startup environment with high ambiguity
Enjoys paying attention to detail and being meticulous
Values being kind to teammates, employees, guests, and others
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
General:
Lived experience with incarceration and/or homelessness strongly preferred
Driver’s license and a good driving record preferred
