The SF Clean City Coalition is a non-profit organization that promotes and supports greening and beautification activities throughout San Francisco. The Green City Program offers low-income residents of San Francisco with employment barriers, opportunities for paid transitional employment, job readiness training and assistance with job placement through participation in community greening projects. The Tree Planting Manager will lead the planting of up to 350 trees annually, as well as oversee a tree and plant training nursery, conduct training workshops, and assist with the development of a pre-apprenticeship arboriculture and landscape training program.
Job Responsibilities:
Managing and supervising all related responsibilities for the planting of up to 350 street trees annually, including purchasing, site inspection, planting, installing the staking and bags
Safely driving and transporting trees in a heavy-duty truck
Coordinating activities at a tree and plant nursery site in SF
Oversight of workforce activities at the tree nursery site and tree planting sites
Training participants through workshops, on the job training, skills building and other activities to enhance their employability and wage growth in related industries
Assist with the creation of training workshops and pre-apprenticeship curriculum materials
Outreach and network building with employers in the industry
Program reporting, data collection, database tracking
Other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
ISA Certified Arborist and/or current D-49 Tree Service License and/or C-27 Landscape Contractors License in the State of California
2+ years’ experience leading a diverse work crew
Landscape and/or Arboriculture project management
Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills
A passion for diversity and equity
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Ability to work with a wide range of people
Teaching experience a plus
Knowledge of Spanish or Cantonese a plus
TDAP and Hepatitis A & Hepatitis B vaccinations are required for this position
Clean driving record with the ability to maintain coverage with our insurance carrier
