Stabilization Counselor - Support foster youth in the community!

Vacancy expired!

Stabilization Counselors provide support services to youth enrolled in Seneca's Intensive Stabilization Services (ISS). The purpose of the ISS program is to provide community-based support to youth who have recently experienced crises and either do not meet criteria for hospitalization or are stepping down after being hospitalized and need services immediately. Stabilization Counselors provide goal-focused mental health interventions to children and families who are exhibiting behaviors that impede their ability to form and maintain lasting relationships, and which might jeopardize placements, both at home and in school.

Stabilization Counselors work with youth to increase their enjoyment of life and learn the coping skills needed to create and sustain meaningful relationships with family, friends, and their community. This program is designed to be comprised of short term intensive services that bridge families to long term support. This position is best suited for individuals who can be independent, self-motivated, and creative in meeting the needs of youth and families. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in increasing their first-hand experience and knowledge in clinical fields, especially those with an aspiration for grad school. Seneca is committed to hiring and maintaining a culturally, ethnically, and linguistically diverse workforce that is reflective of the local client/student community.

"We are the net that catches our kiddos in their fall after an event or crisis. We get the opportunity to support their safe transition into long term services and back with family" - Seneca Employee
