Job Summary
Assist the Director of Facilities with planning, organizing, and supervising activities related to the Event Center’s operations and maintenance department needs. Manage internal maintenance department systems and coordinate maintenance activities with other Event Center departments.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Assist in the planning, development, and supervision of maintenance staff work; evaluate operations and activities; recommend improvements and modifications; prepare reports as requested on various aspects of maintenance operations.
Manage, coordinate, and track, for submission to the accounting department, the following: maintenance department payroll information, including timecards and time sheets; chargeable labor for each show; and purchase of equipment and supplies.
Direct Administration of OSHA safety compliance, including but not limited to producing and updating the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) and Heat Illness Prevention Plan (HIPP) and other related safety mandates. Work directly with CAO to ensure compliance with all employee safety training requirements.
Plan, manage, and coordinate various maintenance department programs as directed. This may include obtaining quotes and bids for projects, executing work orders, managing inventory, and controlling equipment and supplies.
Attend weekly planning meetings for events and facilities projects.
Maintain maintenance department calendar; provide necessary show information to maintenance staff. Produce weekly maintenance staff scheduling for full and part-time labor.
Recommend and assist with the implementation of goals and objectives related to facility maintenance activities; assist in the establishment of performance standards and methods for maintenance activities; assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
Assist with the supervision over assigned maintenance personnel.
Required Qualifications
Principles and practices of facilities management and workplace safety.
Knowledge of safe operation of all pertinent equipment. Knowledge of pertinent local, state and federal codes and safety regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to anticipate problems and recommend or implement immediate corrective action.
Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with management, co-workers, clients and customers using principles of good customer service.
Requires a willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges as well as being open to change and to considerable variety in the workplace.
Strong organizational attention to detail and follow-up skills.
Requires being responsible, reliable, and dependable to fulfill job obligations.
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid California driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
Speak proficient English and Spanish.
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays at various times of the year during large-scale events.
Required Experience
Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or trade technical school; or a minimum of two years of increasingly responsible experience in facilities maintenance including one year of supervisory responsibility; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
