When it comes to keeping our vehicles on the roads, nobody has the Know How like NAPA. For more than 85 years, the National Automotive Parts Association has been empowering the industry with quality parts and supplies.

Today, there are more than 6,000 NAPA AUTO PARTS Stores. About 1,000 of them are corporate owned, and Genuine Parts Company is the employer for these locations. However, there are about 5,000 independently owned and operated NAPA AUTO PARTS Stores where individual store owners are the employer. This position is through Ward's Auto Supply an independently owned and operated store.Job Description

PARTS PROFESSIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION

REPORTS TO: MANAGER

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

The primary functions of the position are to provide prompt and courteous

Service to all customers and potential customers of the store (including retail,

wholesale and internal customers). Direct contact with our customers

Will require neatness in personal appearance and the ability to establish and maintain

Good relations with customers by providing courteous, efficient, and professional

service. This person must have a working knowledge of vehicle systems and components and needs to be able to look up the parts application of the product in the extensive NAPA parts catalogs or by using the TAMS computer catalog in an efficient and accurate manner. With proper training.

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Some secondary yet essential functions of the position include the ability to effectively understand and communicate NAPA product information, performance standards, warranties, invoicing, cash register, electronic communications equipment, and telephone system. And must have the ability to secure parts for customers and to handle daily paperwork and forms generated by customers and the store, including purchase orders, receipts, invoices, warranty returns, RGN’s, OS&D’s, etc.(with Manager approval). This person must also be cooperative in keeping the store properly stocked and the sales area and stockroom clean, uncluttered, and properly maintained and must be willing to participate in training and to perform all other duties as requested my management.

PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS:

1 Able to establish and maintain good relations with customers by providing

courteous, efficient, and professional service.

2 Be functionally literate and capable of understanding and recognizing part numbers and line codes to ensure proper selection and delivery of parts, including identifying sequences of numbers and letters accurately and rapidly.

3 Have a well-groomed, neat appearance, complying with the NAPA policies on conduct and dress.

4 Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills in professional manner.

5 Enjoy working with people in a fast-paced setting; be competitive yet have the ability to work calmly under pressure. Must be able to multitask.

6 Possess a valid driver's license with no DWI convictions and not have over two moving violations or two at-fault accidents in the last three years. Will be required from time to time to make deliveries, must be able to be insured by the company's Insurance Policy.

7 Have a working knowledge of the city the store services.

8 Be able to operate a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission (if appropriate).

9 Able to work retail hours.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1 Visually capable of recognizing and distinguishing letters and numbers and remembering their sequencing.

2 Able to speak clearly and listen attentively.

3 Able to work on feet (stand and walk) for entire assigned work shift.

4 Capable of lifting and moving parts and boxes of up to 70 pounds.

5 Able to repeatedly bend or stoop to floor-level shelves and able to reach upper shelves (ten feet) with use of stool or ladder when necessary.

6 Due to operation of vehicles and equipment, exposure to danger or hazzards may occur.

7 Able to move engine blocks, core barrels, and other heavy equipment with moving aids designed to move such items, including hand trucks, barrel dollies, hydraulic lifts, etc.

SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:

1. Implement appropriate sales practices.

A. Practice effective communications.

B. Answer the phone with a smile, state the company name, and identify yourself by name.

C. Demonstrate knowledge of products and give professional recommendations to help solve customers’ problems with their vehicles.

D. Demonstrate ability to sell product features and benefits.

E. Demonstrate ability to understand customers’ needs-have related sales

knowledge.

F. Help achieve store sales and profit quotas.

G. Review all sales promotions, explain and promote them to our customers, and learn to sell related items.

. Maintain customer satisfaction.

A. Exceed customer expectations.

B. Secure the “right part” the first time.

C. Handle difficult customers and problems in a complimentary manner.

D. Route deliveries in a timely manner.

E. Maintain special order system.

F. Out source parts when needed.

G. Report any problems immediately to management.

3. Demonstrate professional attitude, conduct, and appearance.

A. Demonstrate a pleasant, helpful personality; SMILE!

B. Adhere to NAPA company policies

C. Adhere to NAPA professional conduct code.

D. Adhere to NAPA appearance and dress standards.

Maintain TAMS computer abilities.

A. Demonstrate ability to use the TAMS catalog and system.

B. Effectively use the TAMS point-of-sale invoicing/cash drawer.

C. Process credit card transactions using the credit card processing equipment.

D. Practice asset security/loss prevention controls.

E. Demonstrate knowledge of customer pricing methods used by the store

5. Provide sales support functions.

A. Process customer stock orders.

B. Check in store stock orders, assist in putting stock away. Know the yellow dot system

C. Record and report any inventory discrepanies/damaged merchandise.

D. Assist TSM, if required.

E. Assist in displaying, pricing, and stocking of merchandise.

F. Share responsibility for store maintenance and cleanliness.

G. Promote I Get A Discount Program and record lost sales.

H. Assist in performing duties of other Parts Professionals due to vacations, terminations, etc.

6. Participate in training.

A. Complete all job prerequisite training.

B. Schedule training and complete all on-the-job training activities.

C. Participate in training when offered.

D. Improve technical and product knowledge.

E. Demonstrate ability to perform the required duties of this job.

F. Coach, advise, and assist in training of others.

7. Perform all other associated tasks as assigned by management.

A. Take initiative to find things to do.

B. Work with others as a team.

C. Take pride in yourself, the job you do, and the company you work for.
