About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, reliable, and detail-oriented Handyperson to support residential real estate preparation and light construction in Oakland and Berkeley. This role is ideal for a professional who understands the pace of real estate, can problem-solve independently, and takes pride in high-quality workmanship. You’ll work closely with our project manager to ensure homes are market-ready with minimal friction for homeowners.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general home repairs and maintenance, including:
Drywall patching, texture, and touch-up painting
Countertop replacements and tile installation
Minor carpentry (trim, baseboards, door adjustments, hardware installation)
Light plumbing (faucet swaps, toilet repairs, disposals)
Light electrical (fixture replacement, switch/plug swaps)
Caulking, sealing, weatherstripping
Fence, gate and deck repairs
Complete punch-list items during listing prep and pre-market improvements
Conduct walkthroughs to identify repair needs and provide cost/time estimates
Work safely and leave job sites clean, organized, and client-ready
Communicate clearly with the project manager regarding progress, materials, and timelines
Pick up materials as needed (mileage reimbursed)
Qualifications
5+ years experience as a handyperson, contractor, or skilled trades professional
Proven experience with repairs in residential homes (older East Bay homes)
Strong problem-solving ability and judgment—can diagnose issues quickly
Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and follow through on timelines
Professional, courteous communication with homeowners
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and basic tools
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and move safely around active job sites
Availability for short-notice projects during peak listing periods
