BOOKKEEPER

32 hours / week

An established and growing company is looking for a qualified Bookkeeper to join our team. We are a privately held company with a great reputation on the central coast. This position is based in San Luis Obispo and the work is performed at our office.

Bookkeeping duties include, but are not limited to:

QuickBooks – Perform bookkeeping data entry and reporting in QuickBooks software, ensuring data is entered properly and accurately.

Accounts Payable – Track purchase orders in customer database, reconcile with vendor invoices received, determine order of payment, ensure no late fees, generate checks and send mail.

Accounts Receivable – Bill customers, work with banking document to facilitate revenue to be received.

Cash Flow Forecasting – Using history of revenue receipt cycles, current jobs and estimating customer work completion, forecast cash flow by month.

Budgeting – Develop annual budget with management, maintain budget worksheets and report on gaps monthly.

Profitability – Provide feedback to management in month end profitability analysis meeting, pulling data from two software systems and providing suggestions from the Accounts Payable and Receivable processes.

Reporting – Generate P&L and Balance Sheet at month end and annually, ensuring accuracy.

Payroll – Report hours worked, vacation, sick pay to third party. Calculate performance bonuses.

Bank – Track bank account balances. Reconcile bank statements.

Tax Returns – Generate information for CPA.

Audits – Process and provide information to requesting organization.

The ideal candidate should be able to prioritize the varied bookkeeping tasks and demonstrate a strong skill set in:

Knowledge and application of generally accepted accounting principles.

Making things better than they were for bookkeeping, other departments and the owners.

Trustworthy team player, looking at the financials with an ownership mentality.

Experience:

Bookkeeping – Minimum 5 years’ experience

QuickBooks – Minimum 5 years’ experience

Microsoft Excel - moderate knowledge required

Microsoft Word – effective written communication skills needed

Pay:

$28 - $32 / hour depending on experience

Although this role is considered Monday through Friday, we have some flexibility in days worked and times of day as long as the bookkeeping deadlines are met.
