San Luis Obispo Country Club is a private country club nestled in the beautiful Edna Valley among hills and vineyards in San Luis Obispo, California. Honored with the Distinguished Club Award as well as America's Healthiest Club award, we opened in 1957 and is the preeminent recreational and social club for the entire family. Our golf course and practice areas are the finest in the area and always in top condition. In addition to golf, we have 6 tennis courts, and a heated pool for year-round exercising or just splashing around with the kids.

We are gearing up for Spring/Summer season and have Seasonal Job Openings for lifeguards and swim instructors. Full and Part time positions are available with shifts ranging from Tuesday-Friday, 9 am-7 pm and Saturday &Sunday 11 am-7 PM.

Lifeguard Responsibilities :

Supervises and observes swimmers at all times to ensure their safety

Administers to minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises and calls 9-1-1 for major injuries

Enforces all dress codes and rules of conduct

Directs all swim programming inquiries to Aquatics Director

Performs maintenance duties such as chemical tests, vacuuming, debris and keeping area clean

Maintains cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms and showers

Maintains aesthetic of pool area by straightening chairs, picking up trash, etc..

Checks first aid supplies and reports needed items to Aquatics Director

Performs opening and closing duties as written by Aquatics Director

Maintains all necessary records directed by Aquatics Director

Signs in all members and their guests and assigns appropriate fees & charges

Attends all meetings as directed by Aquatics Director

Does not allow anyone access to the pool facility except during published hours

Administers CPR and First Aid when necessary

Swim Instructor Responsibilities

Maintains all necessary class records as determined by the Swim Program Guidelines

Employs only those methods and teaching techniques consistent & approved by the Red Cross

Fills out completion cards for each student

Corresponds with members who are scheduled for lessons (missed lesson, illness, etc...)

Keeps attendance records of those students in lessons

Sends timely attendance & lesson charges to Aquatics Director (daily and/or weekly)

Maintains a courteous, polite and helpful relationship with all program participants & family

Participates in final lesson celebration party

Sends post-session correspondence with member to encourage and/or make a recommendation on the continuation of building upon the skills learned in the program through additional lessons.

Reports all complaints, emergencies, & hazards to Aquatics Director

Serves as a lifeguard when instructed by the Aquatics Director (with appropriate certification)

Job Qualifications:

Must be available to work weekends &holidays

Lifeguards must have current Lifeguard Training certification

Swim instructors must have current Water Safety Instructor certification

Must have current CPR for Professional Rescuer certification

Optional First Aid certification (Title 22)
