Trust Automation, a fast growing company in San Luis Obispo which designs, builds and supports control and power management systems for the most demanding defense, semiconductor, industrial automation, green technology and medical applications is seeking a Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in San Luis Obispo, CA. You must have a passion for solving basic to complex and interesting problems, while being adaptable as you coordinate a variety of activities. What's Cool About This Job:

This role involves designing robust, high quality motion control systems, power generation/conversion systems and motors. You will work directly with the VP of Engineering and other members of the team to support the company's Engineering strategy. This role will also be involved in leading complex projects, working with a multidisciple technical team in a fast paced, agile developmental environment.

What You Will Do:

ctivities include requirement derivation, conceptual design, prototype and production system development, and hands-on integration and test to produce designs that meet all applicable requirements for the form, fit and function.

What You Need For This Position:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

5-7 years' relevant experience in designing digital and analog circuits, preferably for power electronics/electric motors

A strong grasp of control theory fundamentals

Development experience from a system design perspective

Practiced use of simulation programs to do preliminary trade studies and circuit review

Experience with schematic capture, OrCad

Experience with PCB layout

Experience with PCB level component and electrical system level troubleshooting is required

Experience with circuit simulation tools (i.e. PSpice) is preferred

Experience with closed-loop control of motor torque, speed, and position experience is preferred

Control system development experience (i.e. - PID) is preferred

Experience with system simulation tools (i.e. MATLAB, SIMULINK) is preferred

Embedded programming experience for microcontrollers, including assembly or C languages, is preferred

Familiarity with communication interfaces/protocols: SPI, I2C, Modbus, USB, CAN, RS232, RS422/RS485, Ethernet, EtherCAT, is preferred
