WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM MAINTENANCE WORKER JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

SALARY RANGE: $46,533- $56,561, annually

The Cambria Community Services District, located on the beautiful central coast of California approximately five miles south of Hearst Castle and 15 miles north of Morro Bay, seeks qualified and highly motivated individuals with a strong work ethic to fill two full-time Wastewater Collection System Maintenance Worker positions. Please note the required qualifications of the position description have been changed to allow for the ability to obtain a commercial license after six (6) months.

The Cambria Community Services District serves a population of approximately 6500 and Cambria is considered one of the most desirable places to live in California. The District shall provide the PERS 2% @ 60 retirement plan for covered employees who are classic members hired on or after October 1, 2012, including the 36 highest consecutive months final compensation, and the employee shall pay one hundred percent (100%) of the employee paid member contribution, through a payroll deduction. As defined under the Public Employee Pension Reform Act (PEPRA), miscellaneous "non-classic" employees (aka new members) hired after January 1, 2013 shall be covered under the CalPERS 2% at 62 retirement benefit, including the 36 highest consecutive months final compensation, and the employee shall pay one hundred percent (100%) of the employee paid member contribution, through a payroll deduction. Eligibility for other benefits provided to non-classic employees under this MOU through CalPERS (as stated above) shall be determined by the provisions of PEPRA for "non-classic employees" aka new members.

Under supervision of the Wastewater System Supervisor or Utilities Manager, the Collection System Maintenance Worker must perform a variety of duties including wastewater collection system cleaning and obstacle clearing work using a high pressure jet and other specialized equipment; repair and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment; investigate complaints concerning the wastewater collection system; perform maintenance and repair of sewage collection system; operate vehicles, light and medium construction equipment; and to perform other duties as assigned or required. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF: Maintenance and repair methods related to the tasks stated under examples of duties.

ABILITY TO: Perform maintenance, repair and record keeping tasks indicated in examples of duties. Interpret technical manuals, drawings and specifications, including blueprints and schematics. Handle a variety of duties under general supervision. Apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions given in oral, written or diagrammatic form. Learn and perform the required duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position. A minimum of one-year experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs is required.

EDUCATION: High school graduate or G.E.D.

LICENSES:

1. Valid California Class A or B drivers license and maintain the ability to be insured, or the ability to obtain a California Class A or B drivers license within six (6) months from the date of hire.

2. Ability to obtain a Grade 2 Collection Maintenance Certification and have possession of the certificate within 2 years of hire date.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to respond to an emergency within 45 minutes from time notified of an emergency, in a safe manner.
