Monogram Biosciences (part of LabCorp) is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (Technologist) to join its clinical laboratory in it's Molecular department in South San Francisco. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for molecular biology techniques performed in this lab, including RT-PCR, digestion, ligation, bacterial transformation, and plasmid purification.

The schedule for this position will be: Tuesday-Saturday, 6:30 a.m. 3pm.

Responsibilities:
  • Reviews and releases results in the Laboratory Information System
  • Utilizes a wide array of instrumentation, including Hamilton liquid handlers, KingFishers, BioRad imaging systems, and homebrew semi-automated dispensers, and performs quality control and calibrations as required
  • Analyzes results of gel electrophoresis to prepare samples for Sanger and NextGen sequencing
  • Follows Standard Operating Procedures for specimen processing, performing test procedures, data analysis and reporting test results
  • Recognizes problems and initiates troubleshooting steps to evaluate testing failures and other problems
  • Performs appropriate QA/QC procedures
  • Operates and maintains equipment and instruments according to manufacturer and Monogram Clinical Reference Lab (MCRL) established procedures including:
    • Analysis of clinical specimens
    • Calibration
    • Preventive maintenance
    • Troubleshooting
  • Actively participates in continuing education and in service training programs for licensure
  • May participate in vendor/product evaluation
  • Supervises unlicensed laboratory staff and clinical laboratory scientists in training, and provides technical guidance
