We are currently seeking a Trailer Mechanic at our Stockton terminal. We offer competitive salary and a great benefit package in an exciting and rewarding industry.
Will perform regularly scheduled maintenance and repairs on tractor trailers and chassis. Primary responsibilities include examining parts for defects and excessive wear, maintaining DOT compliance in all areas including brakes, suspension parts, pneumatic and hydraulic system parts, lights, etc. Constructing/repairing metal truck bodies and trailers according to specifications; installing electric wiring for tail lights, brake lights and other equipment based on specifications, diagnoses of engine issues, and assist with other terminal support as needed.
Essential Duties:
Diagnose quickly and efficiently common problems on late model Class 8 trailers
Weld both aluminum and steel
Diagnose and repair, oil, air leaks
Computer familiarity and thorough paperwork and tracking of jobs
Operate and inspect mechanical equipment to diagnose defects
Preventive maintenance of equipment
Dismantle and reassemble equipment
Plan work procedure using charges and experience
Repair, replace and adjust necessary units and parts
Enter labor lines and parts into repair order computer system
React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
High School completion or equivalent
Consent to a pre-employment drug screen and background check
Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair and maintenance of a variety of automotive and mechanical equipment is required
Experience maintaining detailed and routine record keeping
Manual dexterity required
Knowledge of occupational hazards & standard safety precautions
Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to communicate to both internal and external customers
Ability to work in a team as well as individually
Overtime may be necessary during peak periods; Must be able to work a varied schedule Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, and 100+ lbs. on an occasional basis
Work occurs inside and outside; Outside work may be in extreme weather conditions
Standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and reaching for sustained periods of time
Visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eye
