Job summary
AWS EC2 Nitro Cordite team is building the foundation of cloud local instance storage platforms at scale. We power customer workloads across industry from startups through the Fortune 500 enterprises.

We provide a virtualized hardware-accelerated instance storage solutions for M5d, R5d, C5d, G4dn, P3dn, etc. instance types. Our storage optimized instance types, D3, I3 & I3EN are designed for workloads that require high, sequential read and write access to very large data sets on local storage such as relational and NoSQL databases, analytics, search engines, and data warehousing.

We are looking for a passionate software engineer to help us define and build the future of cloud storage. You will be part of an integral member contributing to cutting-edge technology, working in a fast-pace and challenging environment.

Key job responsibilities
As a member of this team, you will work alongside extremely bright engineers, product managers and leaders who obsess about performance, availability, scalability and durability of customer data. You will be building features in the instance storage data plane that solve customers' real world problems. You will solve technical problems at scale, using SOA, distributed systems, and storage technologies. You will have strong ownership over the design, implementation and operation of a massive scale of distributed storage system. You will work closely with an agile team that ships often, and see the impact your code directly on a wide range of customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience contributing to the system design or architecture (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Programming experience with at least one software programming language.

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of software industry experience.
  • 2 + years programming in C/C/Python with focus on Distributed Systems


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with device drivers, firmware management and understanding of IO technologies like NVMe are a big plus

Experience with storage, filesystems, virtualization technologies and on-demand computing

Exposure to software development techniques with large distributed systems involving petabytes of data

Exposure to managing virtualized large scale systems

Experience in building and operating high performance systems at scale and exploring technical feasibility tradeoffs

Thrive in a fast paced environment that encourages and rewards creative design and intelligent risk taking
